not really Lol 5.3 burns oil and cooks heads on a regular basis, and the 5.4 is terrible all around.

302 v8 is still the best motor i feel ever made.

My friends mom has an 03 Sierra Z71 with the 5.3, fully loaded, leather, bose system, etc with 130ish thousand miles without any motor issues. Man, that truck does move compared to his dads 5.4.

The sierra however, has the notorious instrument cluster problem. You'll be stopped and it will be pegged past 120mph lol

i can tune one.

PS no redesign on the ecoboost. unless you count them tweaking it for more hp and better MPG which is coming up.

IDK about you, but ive driven them, they are serious motors, ford even rolled out a crate motor ecoboost with stand-alone ign system. I sell them daily, so they seem pretty solid!

But yea, back to silverlakes. I got my optima in, need a battery strap made for it. one step forward one step back. gawd theres alot to get done before june

Good, it seems to work ok, but I have an antenna that can be tunes as well. I should be getting more range than I have now.

I'm trying to keep the parts list small, but I keep finding more stuff to do

Ha! Every F-150 I test drove (new and used), rode like a damn lumber wagon (not to mind the used ones were all beat to ****). Fukc that. I drive over 1,000 a month, I want to be comfortable. I drove my ranger twice after I bought the Silverado, and I couldnt stand how rough the ride was. I dont know how I put up with that for 5 years. Ford is known for stiff suspensions.

Also the Chevy had a 5'-9" bed as compared to Ford's 5'-6" bed. My quad wouldn't fit in the Ford bed with the tailgate up.

Every newer motor burns oil, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota....etc. That's how the upper cylinders are lubricated, they allow a small amount of oil around the rings. There is a reason that cylinders still have cross-hatching after 250k.

Also, the 5.3 gets better gas mileage than the 5.4.

Honestly, I don't think I could find a single thing that would make me buy a ford truck again any time soon.

As for the Ecoboost. Why would I pay $7,000 more for a V6 that puts out the same power as a V8, and gets the same fuel economy as a V8?

The last Ford V6 that I owned got much worse mileage than my Chevy V8.

The ecoboost only gets the same mileage as the silverado. Why would I buy a motor that is going to have much higher maintenance costs and purchase cost, when I am going to get the same mileage? The Ecoboost is not the motor the Ford said it was going to be.

hah..you're telln me. I have to have the most to do before june lol.

oh and my one .02 about this chevy for thing. I've been in both all my life, the chevy 2500 HDs ride like a brick. they have waaay too stiff of springs in the rear and the front. My f250 rides like a tank..but I love it..cause I know its a leaf sprung solid axle truck.

but really I'd take any new truck

I agree, the ecoboost is a great engine. I have personally driven one and would buy one in a heart beat if I wanted to spend the money on a new truck.

You sell the ecoboost in a stand alone system? How much? I think the ranger needs one. haha
