Welcome to the forum

2x4 and 4x4 used different frames, so you can't just bolt a 4WD front axle to a 2x4 frame
4WD was not an "option", a Ranger was either 2WD or 4WD when it was assembled
Its like saying I have a regular cab and want to change it to an extended cab, of course you can, but its a different frame so.............

best bet is to get a 1983-1987 4x4 Ranger with bad body and engine/trans, and then swap your 2x4 parts over to it

OR, if you are a welder you could rebuild the front part of the 2x4 frame so it could take a front 4x4 axle
The frame needs to be boxed, then the axle brackets welded on
It would be best to buy a 1983-1987 ranger 4x4 as a parts truck and also to measure where the brackets need to go, remember this lines up the 4 wheels, so a little off means tires wear down real fast, or worst case you end up sliding off the road on a corner
