1994 Ranger XLT 2wd
1994 Ranger XLT 2wd
Hello everyone. I just arrived in the US a little over a week ago. I was living in the Philippines for the past 2 1/2 years. They have plenty of Rangers in the Philippines but they are all diesel. Anyway, I needed transportation when I arrived in Charleston, WV so I made a deal with a guy to leave a 1994 Ranger in paid parking, send a photo of the parking space number and leave the key in the gas cap, which he did. I landed at 9 pm after 2 days of travel on 4 airplanes with a total of 20 hours flight time. I found the Ranger, threw my bags in it and turned the key, but nothing happened. The battery was dead so I got a jump from an airport worker and proceeded on my way to Lewisburg, WV because I had papers to sign the next morning for a house I was buying. It started raining and snowing so I turned on the wipers and there were no wipers. The dude put a junk battery in the truck and also took the wipers with him! Trucks were throwing slush on my cracked windshield and I was sure I was going to die that night but I somehow was able to drive the 100+ miles to Lewisburg and check into a hotel. I walked to a Walmart the next morning and bought a battery and wiper blades and made it to settlement just a little late. That is how I came to own a Ford Ranger. The truck actually runs pretty good and the trans and clutch is all good, but it needs some work so I'm here to ask a few questions. Thanks for reading.

Sorry you had that trouble, most Ranger owners are not like the guy you bought it from
1994 model year was the last year for the older OBD1 computers and separate spark systems
There were 3 engine models, all petrol
2.3l SOHC Lima engine, 4cyl
3.0l Vulcan V6
4.0l OHV V6
All were reliable
Manual trans was an M5OD-R1(M5R1), 5-speed, used from 1988 thru 2011 in Rangers
Automatic was an A4LD 4-speed, used 1986 thru 1994 in Rangers
XLT trim was full of options, 1994 Ranger Brochure seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/res...r_brochure.pdf
