I recently picked up a '95 XLT and decided to build a truck I can take and do some time attack, auto-cross, and track lap days with. As I was building on my daily and track car I realized I needed something to pick up parts and drive when my other ride is down.
The plan is to swap in a 1.6l ecoboost motor mated to a transmission from an RX8. Majority of the parts are ordered and I'm just waiting on shipping. I'll try to update as much as possible as I'm sure there are people here with a ton more knowledge than me that could give me tips on things.
thanks! Mocking up the widebody kit sourced from a BMW e30.
Definitely gonna be an interesting build. Rangers are not new to time attack, but there are limitations you may need to overcome. What are your plans for suspension?

To start, I snagged a 3/5 drop from DJM suspension. Once get that installed, wheels mounted, and the Yukon duragrip in, I should have a better feel and will know if I will need to go a different route for suspension.
Okay, so you're keeping it relatively stock aside from the lowering kit. I don't personally know much about how the independent beams handle on the track, but I'm sure there's info out there as I have seen a few 93-97 trucks used for autocross.

Yeah, I definitely needed a starting point and so many people pointed me to DJM to lower the truck. I'll get some practice them and that will be the true test. Gonna have to fling it around the track to truly tell. lol
