First time forum user...
Recently took ownership of a 97 4.0. I love this truck and want to keep it for years to come. Fits my life style.

It was my youngest child's truck and it was purchased from an elderly couple with very low miles, 45k.

It now has 105K as of today. Regular maintenance performed by certified techs. I have done the remedial work when I have the facilities.

Looking forward to starting a thread to resolve an issue.

I have read a few threads already and appreciate the straight forward replies.

Hint: P0171/P0174, slightly different symptoms than those posted.

1997 was the last year of 2nd Generation Rangers(1993 to 1997)
1998 got a small make over, also Returnless fuel systems, 65psi fuel pressure, 1997 and earlier used 35psi pressure

Your 4.0l is a 4.0l OHV engine, used in Rangers from 1990 to 2000, 2001 and up got the 4.0l SOHC engine, different setup.
