99 Ranger airbag replacement

99 Ranger airbag replacement

So I bought a 99 Ranger with airbags deployed.Not very significant damage just a bump on the hood and a crack in the grill. I went to pick and pull and got a steering wheel bag off a 98 and a passenger from an 04.Before I install,where are the airbag sensors/will I need to replace them,do I need to replace or just reset the restraint module,and if anything would I be good to just plug the bags in and see if it works?

you will need a new module as well,

can I send the original to be reset or do I need a new one all together?Ive seen some decent priced ones on eBay but I didnt know if I could just bolt one in or if I had to get it programmed or something like that

you need a new one all together, the RCM basically fries itself when it sends the signal to deploy the airbags, and the crash sensors are integral to the RCM on some years

i haven’t been able to locate the front impact sensor or crash sensors so I’m assuming they’re integral to the RCM on 99 models.That being said if I was to replace the RCM,can I just plug it in or do I need to take it to Ford or anything first?

I would appreciate that. I was able to successfully hook up the drivers side yesterday with no issues.No hard codes come up on my scanner only a troubleshooting code for the left impact sensor and the passenger airbag not being hooked up yet.Also getting a “non crash airbag deployment “ but once again there’s no crash codes so I might have gotten extremely lucky however, I literally cannot find the impact sensors so I’m not sure what it’s talking about.
