Icon4 Hot Front Differential

I noticed a whining sound around 40 mph when I have my 4WD engaged.I shut the 4wd off and drove home. When I put my hand on the differential itwas so hot I couldn’t leave it there. Much hotter than my rear differential. Ichecked the fluid level and it was a little low. I topped it off with 80W – 90 gearoil. I took it around the block and it seemed to slightly improve but thewhining is still there and the differential is still getting much hotter thatthe rear.

Sounds like you have one or more bad bearing(s). Being low on lube may have caused the damage.
