Greetings from Mexico

Hi guys,

I'm Frank, from Navojoa, Sonora (Mexico).

I just got a 2007 Ranger, it' s the Argentina made model.

4 doors, 2.3L engine, 2WD.

It needs a lot of love....

hehehehe

Can anyone tell me if I can get the wipers water reservoir in the US? the coolant one I already bought it.

So far I've purchased a brake drum, 4 shocks, coolant reservoir, ordered headlamps, brake lights, tailgate latch lower plastic part of the bumper with fog lights cut out and the fog lights.

I'm looking for the wipers water reservoir, headlamp switch, see if there's a way to get the spare tire mechanism (on this one the cable was cut).

They are working on the brakes
Then it will be oil change (differential and engine), replace coolant, fix A/C, have it polished (previous owner painted it but never polished it) check out electric wiring. I need to change tires, so I will look for a set of OEM explorer wheels and mount some all terrain 16´s on them (any recommendation on the tire size?).

Then comes the stereo and speakers, and power windows/lock conversion.

Have its windows tinted.

And take a break.....

Future, put a locker in that axle, I believe it's a 8.8" with 4.56 rel.

Welcome to the forum

We never got the Club Cab 4-door models north of the border

We did use the same 2.3l DOHC duratec engine from 2002 to 2011

Looks like washer fluid reservoir was the same from 2004 to 2011: Washer Reservoir For 2004-2011 Ford Ranger With Pump | eBay

So you should be able to find one

Headlight switch might not match by year, on the US versions
But look here for a visual match for your switch: https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_saca...+switch&_frs=1

Same for spare tire winch
You will need to visually match it: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/ford-spare-tire-winch

Rond, I can´t thank you enough for all of your troubles!!!

I will look into it.

Any ideas on which explorer wheels can I fit into it? I've seen from 16" to 20"

Explorers used same bolt pattern as Rangers

Ranger/Explorer wheel guide here: The Ford Ranger/Bronco II Wheel Fitment Guide To Measuring Wheels

If only goes to 2007 and 18" rims, but later years should be OK

You have a 2WD so won't/shouldn't have a problem with front wheel center hole size, that was usually a 4WD issue.

You will need to have speedometer re-calibrated if you change overall diameter of tires, i.e. change from 28" to 30" diameters
Rim size and tire size are different things altogether
You can have a 28" overall diameter wheel now with 15" rim, change to 18" rim and lower profile tire and still be at 28" overall diameter

So diameter is the key to "what will fit", and width as well
Fitment guide here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...eFitment.shtml

I was more concern regarding if I would need different gears.

I plan to get some AT tires and in the near future add a locker, so I have a little offroad capability.

I also have a 79 Bronco waiting for some love, but this is going to be my daily drive, so I have to get it ready.

Ok, so now I have the wheels, I closed the deal today, the seller will ship them out today.

Next are the tires.

I'm between 235/70R16 and 245/75R16

As always, any recommendation from you guys is appreciated, keep in mind the gear and the engine.

PS.- Will the stereo adapter from a 2001 Escape fit the dash on the Ranger?

Look on the drivers door sticker, back edge of the door, it will have stock tire size listed
Also axle ratio, look here: Ford 7.5 & 8.8 Inch Axle Tag & Door Codes

Go here: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret....jsp?techid=53
and look up stock tire diameter, and diameter of tires you are considering.

Now go here: Gears needed after adding larger tires

Lets say stock tires are 28" and new tires are 31"
Stock gear ratio is 3.73
So after the tire change your actual ratio would change to 3.37.
To get it BACK to 3.73 you would put in 4.10 ring/pinion

Can't tell you about the radio?

So it's almos ready to leave the shop.

Some of the stabilizer parts were replaced, as well as other front suspension things, including the water pump.

Wheels and tires are waiting at the tire dealer...

Welcome to the forum, Frank! The truck looks to be in pretty good shape and you are bringing it up to street-worthiness nicely. I would give my left nut for a 4-door like that. The 4-door (crew cab) models were never offered here in the US. Best we can do is an extended cab. I believe most US parts will fit with no problem, but it appears (from other things I've seen on the internet is that some of the Argentina built trucks used parts from different years. That being said, follow RonD's advice and carefully match up your parts visually rather than by year to ensure you get the correct parts. Best of luck with your build! :)

Thanks for the welcome mhoward.

You're right, it's made from different years parts.

If the time comes, I'm going to consider an axle swap or 4x4 conversion, I believe is the same chasis on the crew cab and the extended cab, but that's a project for another time.

In the picture below, you can see the beverage holder, and there's a hole on that plastic part, do you know what's supposed to go there?

Also, there's a picture with the wheels and tires, I've should gone with bigger tires, maybe next time.

I'm thinking in putting spacer on the back, looking at it from behind the space between tires is too narrow..

I see the hole, but I'm not sure what it is for. I googled for the manual trans cup holder and I see there are different styles. There are some with the hole and some without. As for the tires/wheels; the tire size isn't the problem. Your wheels are from a mid 2000s Explorer. Nice looking wheels, but the offset is not correct for your truck. Spacers might do the job to get them out toward the fender lip. I wouldn't recommend going with larger tires than the 235's as those are probably 7.5" rims. I do, however, like the looks of those wheels on your truck! :)

You mentioned the frame being the same as the extended cab. My 2003 extended cab has a 126 inch wheel base. Check your door VIN sticker to see what your crew cab is. If they are the same, you should be able to use frame/suspension parts from extended cab trucks. Honestly, my guess would be that you can use parts from any Ranger provided you match the suspension type (I think you have the torsion bar setup like the Edge and 4x4 models).

Ok, I can confirm the wheel base is 126"

Regarding the suspension, here are some pictures...

Your truck has torsion bar front suspension, so with a 126" wheel base, that is an Edge Extended Cab frame.

Guess I'm lucky, I'm going to keep an eye out for a spare parts truck.

Will the 4x4 be a straight fit in, or should I go for a complete chasis swap?

Based on posts here and on other Ranger forums, the Edge frame is exactly like the 4x4, so they just install the necessary parts to convert their 4x2 to 4x4. I have compared my 4x2 Edge with my son's 4x4 XLT and I can see no difference. A 4x4 parts truck would be a great idea! :)

Great, that way I don't go through all the hassle to change the chasis...
