Mechanic At Heart, Newbie To Fords :)

Hello all,

My name is Joe, and I’m a mechanic. Welllll, not really…well, maybe a little bit haha. I am 22 years old and I’ve been working as a lube tech/general service/light duty tech for 5 years or so, if that gives you an idea of my professional experience. I have been working on mainly Euros like E36 and E46 BMWs and stuff in my free time, as a young, early 20s car guy, building what I’d say are “drift” cars (rust buckets really), but I recently came in possession of a 302 Swapped 1987 Ford Ranger :). I decided I’ll try something new. After all, I am an American. So, this is my introduction to the long journey I have chosen to partake in, the 1987 302 Swapped Ford Ranger Drift Build. Oh boy, here we go….

This is how she currently sits, this is not my daily by any means (I have a Hyundai for that ik ew), but this is the first project I will be taking seriously, and putting a substantial amount of money and time into. I have a vision, I have a plan, and I intend to execute this plan fully from start to finish.

Now, like I said earlier, I come from mainly being familiar with European cars. And being so young, I don’t have a whole lot of experience in the automotive industry anyway. I haven’t went to school, but I do have my basics and intermediate skills down. I’m comfortable with most things, but I’m not quite familiar with fully building and swapping engines and transmissions and intense wiring/electronics things. I have a pretty good understanding of how everything on an engine works and what it does, and I am always willing to learn, and between my current job in a (very welcoming and helpful) shop, and my own personal knowledge I’ve picked up over the past 5 years, I feel comfortable in my ability to achieve the goals I have set for myself on this project!
