New (??) 04 Ranger

Hi, I picked up a used 04 Ranger Edge Supercab 4x$ last Sept. It's Dark Shadow Grey in color with a 4.0 V6 and auto tranny. I drove it around NJ and the area and put a Lear cap on the back. I then delivered it to Norfolk VA last Feb to ship to Italy via a Navy opportunity lift program. I just retired from the Navy and am now working in Italy. So with this program it is on a priority basis and I got bumped a few times. It just made it to Italy late last month and I was able to pick it up last Monday!!! So now I am sticking out like a proud sore thumb here in Italy because they don't have Rangers over here and especially don't have the Edge versions.
The guy who had it before me was a fireman (according to the sales guy but who knows) so there was an antenna mount in the rear window (no cables but the seal was good so no leaks), reflective safety tape on the inner door edges and tailgate and the tail lights had some extra holes in them for I guess emergency strobes or something.... they need to go since the tail lights now get some water in them after a heavy rain or washing since whatever was in there is now gone. Nice is that he also put Dick Cepek (sp) tires on them so they are nice and agressive looking without being overkill.
But now that I have had it here I need to think stereo upgrade since Italian radio is poor to say the least (even though they mix English with the Italian songs) and the stock system seems lacking because I have to crank it up if I open a window to hear anything and I am not super comfortable with the 60/40 bench front seat or lacking console. So they are my priorities now. Decent stereo and speakers and maybe some buckets/console from an upgraded Edge or maybe Explorer if they fit.

I did buy an Explorer overhead console/auto-adjust mirror a few months back to install. That will be first to go in when I get the chance.

But love it because I sit so far above the puny European cars and am really enjoying the view (I drove a 93 BMW 520i on its last leg for 4 years so have gotten used to sitting real low!!!).

Other than the gas mileage (BMW was great for a gas car!!!) I love it. Can't wait to find an accomodating farmer that will let me tear up his field with it!!!!

I look forward to seeing what you guys have/are doing with yours especially since I can't go a few miles down the road to hook up with all the other Ranger (or similar) trucks and such... to see what everyone is doing in person. Bear with me if I ask some really specific questions since I'll be depending on internet photos for most of everything...

Thanks
Icetek

Shipping was relatively cheap since YES the Navy did pay for the actual shipping. But I got a qoute of $1600 to ship it commercially. So I went with the Navy. But I dropped it off in mid-Feb and it sat and sat and sat.... until mid-Sept. It finally got here early Oct. By here I mean Sicily which is 500 miles south of me. So I paid 7 months of insurance on something I was not driving. Full coverage for the protection while it sat in a Navy warehouse. Then I rented a car 1-way for $100, put about $30 of gas in it (diesel so great mileage), $45 ferry crossing from mailand Italy to Sicily and $20 in tolls. Spent 2 nights on the base in Sicily for $90. $110 customs charge to get my truck out (shipping was free but they get you for some paperwork!!), Ferry and tolls for return trip: $65. 2 tanks of gas coming home: $80. So for $530 (not counting insurance) instead of $1600 I got my truck. But I had to wait 7 months for it.

But it's here and now I can enjoy it!!! I'll post some pics as soon as I figure out how... It's still basically stock other than the cap and tires.

good looking truck, looks like it could use a T-bar cranking up front to level it out

.....now go flex it on a Ferrari
