Recently bought a 1999 Ranger XLT Supercab. 4.0, 4x4 auto. Truck is clean and straight with only minor paint chips other than sun damage to hood and roof. Gray interior also in great shape, just needs good cleaning. Not too fond of red so eventually would like to recolor interior to black and exterior to either a almost black purple or burgundy. Gonna spray in bedliner and undercoat frame and inside fenders.

Bought it knowing it has trouble shifting into 3rd or higher and the engine was idling very high and would die when put into any gear. Hoping to get those issues fixed but worst case, I can use my 2002 Ford Explorer drive train to complete swap. Explorer body is severely rusted and the front end needs full replacement.

We (brother and I) also have a 2002 Ranger with the 4.0 auto 2x4. If we don't need the drive from the Explorer, the plan is to move that body to the Explorer frame with a lift kit (2" wheelbase difference) so he will have a 4x4. The 2002 has had front end rebuilt and those parts will fit the Explorer frame. That little Ranger runs out great.
