New owner, new, to me Ranger

im writing this waiting for Amtrack to pull out of Penn Station heading to Pennsylvania to pick up my eBay purchased supercab 4x4, 190,000 or so miles. It is well optioned with bucket seats, auto, posi rear and trailer package. Paint in the photos looks good. It's then brght blue metallic.

The truck must must have been lifted as it sits on 31 inch tires on the original wheels.

my first upgrade will be new tires and wheels after oil and trans fluid changes and an alignment.

ill keep the car upstate New York for weekend hauling duties.

My first question is since I'm buying new wheels and tires can I go bigger that 7" rims and bigger than the 31's? Looks pretty cool as is but after last winter's snowfall bigger seems better.

Im a long time car guy and old enough to retire but work every day. I've got some old fiberglass cars in the garage but this is my first pick up.

Looking forward to this forum

Welcome to the forum

What year and what engine Ranger are you getting?

Read here for tire size: https://www.ranger-forums.com/wheels...re-size-20047/

And here: Ford Ranger / Bronco II Tire Fitment

Wheel size changes need a little more thought, read here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...l_fitment.html

sorry for the delay in responding. 1995 4.0 engine. On the way home had a gas leak, called AAA and flatbedded home. Haven't gotten under yet, but looks to be in the area of the fuel filter

thanks for the link to tire size chart. After a long run on the interstate today, I'll stick with (new) the 31's on the car on the original rims.

I almost made it 125 miles to the house upstate NY when a drive next to me started pointing to the underside of the truck. I pulled off the highway to gas streaming out from the area behind the engine. AAA got me on a flatbed he rest of the way. This morning investigation showed the fuel filter had been rubbing against the front drive shaft and it wore a hole through. Odd fittings on the filter but a quick on line and I go it replaced.
