Rare Ranger Owner
Rare Ranger Owner
Hey guys!
I just got a smoking deal from a buddy who was moving out of state. I just bought a 2011 Ford Ranger 4 door crew cab, with a 2.3l imported form Venezuela. I have NEVER seen another one of these in the wild. If you have any more info about these let me know, I know absolutely NOTHING about these import Rangers.

Welcome to the forum
You can read about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_R...6%E2%80%932011)
Scroll down to South America
Most of the parts are the same, but key word is "most"
I didn't think these could pass US/Canada safety tests so couldn't be imported and registered????
But you DO see them every now and then so there must have been a way to bring them in, they were sold in Mexico
So yes, Rare above the border, lol

Thanks Ron! Yeah, it's strange, the previous owner was able to get it inspected and registered in Colorado. I have NO idea how he pulled that off, but it sure does make for great conversation. I haven't pulled up to a gas station since I've had it and not had somebody come ask me about it!
Yea something tells me it wasn't brought here the correct way. lol. Read up on the Nissan Skyline if you want to know more about the right and wrong way to bring vehicles into the US.
I wouldn't be surprised if the truck is registered as a US truck (using a US vin number), hence why he was able to register it. There's a big difference between state legal, and federal legal. The person at the DMV doesn't know or care that a four door Ranger shouldn't exist in the US, but the federal government sure cares. The EPA and NHTSA do not like it when a non-federally compliant vehicle enters the US and is driven on the streets. Numerous Nissan Skylines and other "illegal" imports have been seized by the government for being illegally imported, illegally registered, and non-emission or safety complaint (US spec). Most of these cars end up in the junkyard and crushed. I would highly suggest you research how this truck arrived here in the states, how it is registered, whether it's been brought up to the U.S. spec safety and emissions standards, and if it is not supposed to be here, keep it on the down low or else risk losing it to the feds.

That's my guess also, I'd verify that the VIN matches the truck, and that ALL the VIN's on the truck match.
