97 B2300 throttle body fix
97 B2300 throttle body fix
A few months back I was having an issue with my truck dropping RPM's, lights dimming, voltage dropping and sometimes stalling when I came to a stop, but as soon as I stopped everything went back to normal and driving was normal until the next stop. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I have racked my brain over and over again trying to figure it out. Well, I decided that since it had probably never been done that I should clean my throttle body. I took everything apart and cleaned it but I found a vacuum line on the bottom of the throttle body that was soft and deteriorating; I tried to find a match but the problem is that it's different sizes on each end. The line connects the throttle body to the charcoal canister; I didn't have a clue as to what I could do since it's not a line that you will find in a store. I had a short vacuum line that fit on the throttle body but wasn't tight enough on the other connection. I had a brain fart and went to my electrical bag and found some larger shrink tube. I put a peice over the smaller connection heated it up and tried a sample piece of the vacuum line on it and it was still not snug enough. I put one more piece over that and heated it up and ended up with a great fit. I also found that the line that runs from the valve cover to the breather tube had a split in it. I cut it back to fresh rubber and reconnected everything. I took it for a drive and haven't had anymore issues. Thank you to all that tried to help with my original post a few months back.
