Soldered the stock plug into the LED strip and gave it a test run before I start cutting and gluing.
Looks like it should do the trick!!

Should get it finished tonight if everything goes well, but i need to take ANOTHER trip to the store first, need a dremel tool.

If you are going to use the 360's the map for where I put mine is in my original thread. The even spread of light is absolutely OEM quality. No hot spots whatsoever. It took alot of research, trial & error to come up with that. You might not want to re-invent the wheel.
With the CHMSL strip, you are on your own. I don't know about cutting those other strands to make it shorter. You need an LED stretcher.
If you give up and want one of my LED 3rd brakelight plates that fit damn near perfect the price is 40+5 shipping = 45$ paypal. This includes the disperser for absolutely blindingly even lighting. It hurts to look at my CHMSL
This goes for anyone as I have a few I am looking to unload.
I also have L1224R without backing-plates (you will have to drill a hole and modify your stock socket) - I do it this way for Corvettes.

Thanks for the help.. I decided to just cut the led's out and not mess with the board by putting anything in they're place and its working out so far, but like you said they may burn out prematurely.. and i could not find the diffuser from the the vw tail light but it came out alright i think!

there is some more pic's of how i built it here
