I had this idea after many failed attempts for a backup camera mounting position.

I think I have figured out the perfect solution.

With about 1.50 in nuts,washers, and a bolt I have this:

i've been debating doing a backup camera too. cartoys has one thats already built in to a license plate frame so the camera is all flush the way its setup but it's like $200 lol. i'll turn my head instead

 

How's the view?

I like the mount. Hopefully road debris won't break it

I wanted to do a license plate frame camera too, I think that is the ideal position. But I got this camera on clearance (brand new in box) at best buy for 21 dollars. It is usually a 100 dollar camera from what I can tell.

I still have to turn my head, just down to my 7" head unit! :)

 

Also i just ran the wires through a grommet and a hole that already existed in the bumper. It fits perfect I think.

Gosh *scratches head* With the view you get from a ranger, im always puzzled as to why you need a backup camera? Use your mirrors, or just flip an arm over the passenger seat and look back - if you dont know where you rear end is, you need to practice till your comfortable with getting close to objects in reverse.

 

This is the exact order of thoughts I went through until I thought, why not? :) I got a new head unit, it was a cam input (two actually one for parking camera, which I thought was a little over the top) and, it has turned out to be a fun project! especially with all the help from the rf members! woot!

The wide viewing angle helps too, especially with all the kids running around my townhouse complex. those buggers come out of nowhere.

 

yes they do jump put of no were , sometimes as bad as deer ,
as long as you dont need to tow anything ???, looks good

 

No towing over here! :) I have already thought about that however. I am going to wire the whole thing on snap connectors, so if I do need to take it out...*snap, snap*. busting the bond on the loctite might be a little hard tho.
