Hi i was wondering if i could take the trane and transfer case out of my 4wd bronco2(1989) and put the front axel in to my 2wd Ranger(also 1989) and make it 4 wheel drive , they both have a 2.9 but im just not shur if the front axle's are interchangeable or line up.

Any idea's would be very helpful, Thank you .

 

The axle is NOT the trouble. The engine cradle is. Go take a long, thinking look at both of them ( with a picture of the other one with you while you lay under the other truck) and you will see the issue. Can be done, but,...

 

Ive had wonderful ideas like this. What I have learned in the long run is that its cheaper just to buy what you want(hence why i have an Aviator AWD...pita but fun 300+hpAWD). Unless of course you have
sentimental value in either then I can see doing it, but yeah...first thing I would do is get a same year donor ranger with 4x4 and sell the bronco. Might be able to use some parts. But even if you get it all together, you'll still stuck with a "semi stock" system. Coulda probably built something better with new/aftermarket parts for similar money....depending or your wrench time....and how much you REALLY like to work and know how to on these things....:).....good luck either way and keep us posted...i love the builds that people do...even though every one says not to do it....and it cant be done..
