crazy...but possible?

i havent been on here in a while, but i have an idea...i copied this from another forum i visit:

ive always loved the way trophy trucks look, and always wondered how awesome it would be to get to drive or own one. recently i saw the nitro circus episode where street bike tommy drove their trophy truck on the road in las vegas(i believe it was) and it got me to thinking even more about it...

i did a little research last night, and found a website(camburg.com) that sells all kinds of kits for my truck, basically i could buy the parts to build my own truck without having to fabricate everything by hand...now obviously i wouldnt want the truck to have 1000hp as i would want it to be fairly reliable, so i was thinking for the engine i could pull a 5.0 out of an explorer or mustang and have it worked over(i know a guy that builds custom engines) and would like to get ~400+ hp out of the engine if possible...

basically i want a street legal trophy truck thats been dulled down a little. id like to keep use of the bed for hauling a dirt bike around, and the back seat as well...is this idea completely stupid, or would is it possible with time and $$$?

this is what i want...if any of you have pics of something like this it would be awesome to give me an idea of how it might turn out...

Not sure about the smog laws in Tx but in CA the engine has to be from the same year or newer vehicle that fits in the same weight class. So you would have to go for a 4.6 or 5.4 to stay legal since the last time the 5.0 was used was in 00 or 01.

there you go, perfect for the non faber.

I already priced out everything 2 years ago. I would suggest to plan on spending $13,000 atleast and that does not include the roll cage

I don't have much knowledge in the pre-runners, but from what I've seen of the builds on here, you usually end up tearing up your bed in order to put in a 3 or 4 link rear suspension. That will kill your cargo capacity of your bed a bit.

Those trucks have roll cages inside the cab which would screw up the placement of the rear seats. I don't know if you're planning for a roll cage, it's a bit of work, and it takes a bit of talent -but if you plan on romping around through the hills/desert//trails/whatever, you should really look into a roll cage.
