Front End Swap???

Since I am missing my hood and Fender from previous tree Incident (see this thread... Beaten Up Ranger ), I was curious....

I LOVE the Squared off Honeycomb look of the 02-03 Edge Ranger Front end with Fog Light bumper, and Hood. Is it possible to take off my 94 parts, adn swap them out for the 02/03 counterparts?

Yes, it's possible. You'd need a new header panel, grill, hood, fenders to start with. I THINK, don't hold me to it, that your bumper will work with the dip of the 03 grills but I'm not positive. I'm not exactly knowledgeable on the subject but these are the basics, I'm sure someone will come in with a definite answer sometime.

If you were to do a 02-03 swap you will need a new core support [which requires welding, ie: the radiator support], header panel, grill, hood, fenders, lights . The bumper you have might work will the new grill I'm not sure.

you'll need new frame horns for mounting any '98+ ranger bumper to a ibeam/ttb truck. At least that's what i understand.

See... now, this is what I am talkin about. I needed to know the last two. That definitely tells me the work involved! I just think that no year / model ranger looks as good as the 02/03 Edge with that Honeycomb grill and the almost squared off look.... I just can't afford to buy one Just YET!!!!

this swap has only been done a handful of times. its hard need to know how to weld professionally. and know frame body work..

basically you will need a 01-03 truck cut off at the cowl forward and basically all that junk.. 01-03 bumpers dont work on our frame you need custom mounts yaydaydyada.. looking at alot of trial and error and alot of fitting have fun with it. its gonna get expansive

well, scratch that then... I have about 2500 to go towards the suspension lift, and about another grand on the 33 or 35 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ and then my own hood and fender too.... so yeah, not feasible here.

actually it isnt all that expensive if you keep your eyes open and bid your time...as for the core support you can just drill out the welds on your current one and pop rivet the new one in (which is what a lot of people do) and then just bolt everything else up (ie hood, fenders, header panel, lights, grill) i have seen people sell the complete front end for like around 800 and less, so for a decent price.... but to each his/her own...

I have a 99 ranger XLT 4x4 and I LOVE the honeycomb look also. I dont want to do a whole bumper swap and such. I just want to take my grill off and put on the honeycomb grill. Can that be done with out all the welding and other work involved?

The header panel bolts in but the radiator support has to be welded or riveted on.

i think the newer front end looks better on lowered rangers, plus they make this killer bumper cover for it. its one of those looks that if i saw it come flying up behind me on the highway, i would definitely get out of the way
