gas tank in the bed??
gas tank in the bed??
how hard would it be to move or get a gas tank in the bed of the truck?? i know its not a new idea but i thought that i could get a heck of a lot of ground clearance by doing so, how hard would it be? i dont want to keep the stock one, i was thinking of getting another one, either an aluminum or plastic 20 gallon tank, preferrably and alumi
lol
lol
not hard at all! if you wanted to move the factory tank to the bed, just splicing a few electrical lines, and longer hoses for the evap. canister. and for the fuel lines, use some stainless brake lines b/c normal hose will not hold the pressure of fuel injected.
if ya went with a fuel cell, im sure ya could get the stock sending unit to work, if not, you would need a new sending unit, and all that jazz, and i would then get a autometer(or similar) fuel gauge since the stock one may not work with aftermarket sending unit

so it would be cheaper just to use the stock tank? and if i got a fuel cell all i would need is longer lines if the stock sending unit worked?

oh ok, well if i was to use the stock tank i would probably just build a box around it so it doesnt look like im gonna blow somthing up...
it seems like a good cheap idea to get some serious ground clearance, and some piece of mind not having to worry about puncturing the tank underneath.
do you have any pics of it??
you can buy fuel injection line..it cost me 7$CAN..so like 6$US a foot i almost cried thank god i didnt have to pay for it the place that broke the clip set on the filter did..its rated for 900psi and i had to special order it...i havent had a single leak yet..
i think reusing the factory on will net a cheaper install. but buyin a cell and new parts will please you more in the end.
i have a project on my list of things to do that includes a new relocated "tank".

yah get a fuel cell..they dont look so bad..just looks like a little toolbox....or even better throw a tool box back there and mount the fuel cell inside the tool box so no one would ever know or see it =0...theres a new idea for this thread!
I think that is really a good idea! For some serious offroading and extra gallons of gas! I like the idea that guy suggested about putting the tank inside toolbox, you can always use toolbox as well! Go for it! and keep us updated! I wish someone did this already and post pictures, im interested to see some!
