1983(first year) to 1992 were all considered 1st generation and dimensions are the same.
1989-1992 there was a style change but wasn't considered a new generation since dimensions are pretty much the same.
Width
1983–1988: 66.9 in (1,699 mm)
1989–1992: 66.8 in (1,697 mm)
So shouldn't be an issue changing front clip
1993 to 1997(2nd generation) saw a 2.5" width increase which could be a problem in matching front clip to cab

69.4 in (1,763 mm)
