I couldn't get the tow hitch back on without a lot of work after I got the lift kit so I decided to not put it on and come up with another idea.
Went to the junkyard and got 2 front hooks off a Suburban. The holes almost line up with the holes in the frame but not quite and the big rivet for the spare tire carrier was in the way. I grinded those 2 rear rivets off (1 on each side) drilled 2 new holes and painted the frame black where it was grinded. Used grade 8 bolts. They are massive meaty hooks and I got to test them out today. They worked perfect.
They are hard to see and close to the frame but have plenty of clearance for any angle needed on the strap.
This may not be a new idea here but I think they came out nice. I can always tow the boat with the Tahoe.

seems like the tow strap could hit the bumper if pulled at in the wrong angle.

 

I was worried about the angles and the bumper but even with me standing about 4 feet away holding a tow strap over my head it doesn't touch.

 

i like, the best part thought is the gators sticker HOOAH gators!!!

 

Maybe you should put a washer on the bolts before it goes thru the tow hooks. This would give you slightly better/more secure anchor at the bolt, and, take some of the strain of the head of the bolt.

Also, did u happen to put a lock washer and washer on the inside?

I did put lock washers on the inside. I thought about adding a few washers to drop them down a bit however I thought that may put more strain on the bolt stem. I could add a washer though if you guys think that is better.

 

I was always taught that a single washer on the inside and outside of any major stress point is a good idea.... If anything it gives that warm fuzzy feeling.

I geuss the thought process behind it is that when yanking on it, you have horizontal sheer forces being applied to the bolt stem. being what it is, and depending upon your angle, that sheer force could be applied indirectly to the bolt head. It would make ME feel better knowing that the head of the bolt has a little more surface area via a washer to prevent slip... However being what it is, the chance of it coming lose of 'slipping' is probably in the range of 1 in 10000000000000000000 heh.
