Icon3 paint ford symbol and grill

I have to upload photos still but I have a honeycomb grill on the front of my red 2003 ranger edge and I was thinking of just painting the grill black and paint the ford symbol from blue to red. Someone told me that if i run over the part that says ford with chapstick and paint over the symbol when the paint dries i can uncover the word ford and where it was blue is now red. do u think it could work i wanna ask before i ruin the front grill.

It depends on the type of Ford oval you have.

Some are gel filled, some are 2 piece & some are pressed aluminum over a plastic base.

Here's a LINK to my custom ovals page to give you some ideas.

I don't mod the gel filled ovals mostly due to the insane cost of epoxy to refill them & the fact that most epoxy will turn yellow after a short time in the sun.
The pressed metal ovals might be able to be painted, but you'd need to hand paint them.

Painting the grille was the first mod I did. I have an 02 black ranger edge. painted my gray honeycomb black and it turned out great. I used the Krylon Fusion plastic paint in black of course. Took out whole grille assemble, snapped out grille itself, gave it a good wash, gave it about 5 light coats, 6 or 7 would be ideal, but it looks great even after a month or so.
