Whats wrong with a 350 in older fords? Seems everyone used to do that with the old rods.

I'd rather see a "ford" engine in a ford car, but to each his own. The only thing I'd put in a Ford is a Ford or another breed of diesel, cummins, detroit diesel.

The engine doesn't know who made it. The power plant and drivetrain is unrelated to body and exterior. I would take a 350 Ranger over a 5.0 Ranger all day. As long as no one knew about it.

my 5.4 in my ranger isnt that special, im sure the v10 would be even less special. personally they are all too heavy for a ranger. maybe an aluminum block 4.6 would be a good choice.

HAHA no.

350s are incredible engines. They can put down awesome power with very little and inexpensive modification. Plus they are easy to find, all pretty similar, fuel injected or carbed, gigantic aftermarket. The 351 is carbed only, there are many different models, as a quarter of the aftermarket, and can't out out numbers even close to a 350.

I am not Ford bashing by any means. I am just as much a Ford fan as a Chevy fan. They both have some great stuff, but by far SBCs are my favorite engine.

There are EFI 351's. Maybe Ford just doesn't run as deep in you guys.

You all make great points. But after seeing that 5.0 Coyote Ranger... whew lol.
Honestly, I will probably never put anything bigger than a 5.0 in my Ranger, if I ever do an engine swap lol. Everyone has great engines no matter how you slice it. I would probably choose ease of installation along with that "custom factor". So no 302... or 10 cylinder. Or 3.5 Ecoboost lol. Unless I found one super cheap

Still trying to figure out why your SN is "elcaminoman" then

They made 351 EFI's in the late 80s and early 90s.

I have heard of the Coyote Ranger, and although i have not seen any pics or anything of it, that is just bad ***.

As far as a 4.6 goes, its actually more of a PIA than installing an LS. I was going to go this route, but after owning 1 LS swapped vehicle, decided I'd do another. The 4.6 is taller and wider than the LS motors by just a bit, but it can be done. I hear they make good power too. If I were to go strictly Ford in a Ford though, it would be just an explorer 302 in a ranger. Probably the easiest swap to do. Since i could give a **** about what came from where, a 5.3 in my Ranger will be fun

I own an El Camino lol. Chevy was the best back in the day with their SS line of vehicles (strictly opinion).
But you dont see me starting a thread about dropping a 302 in my El Camino either

The LSx is leaps and bounds a better engine than the stupid 4.6 lol, I wouldn't even compare them

I know this, but stubborn "I wont put anything made by another company..." people disagree. That is them. Whatever.

I know what motor is better, hence why that is what is going in the truck

The old 4.6L vs 5.7L argument is like 5.0L vs 6.2L, the literage difference isn't even fair lol.
