1971 plymouth fury I
Great project for someone starting out !
Two things to keep in mind on the older Mopars:
Keep a spare Ballast resistor (it reduces the input voltage to the coil) in the glovebox.
It will be mounted on the passenger side of the firewall. They go bad without notice.Result is no spark.
The '70s 318 engines used a nylon toothed timing gear on the camshaft. That is , the steel teeth were built up with plastic that could wear down in under 100K miles.A stretched timing chain would make it worse. Sudden backward torque on the engine (locking up the brakes in a panic stop or even shutting the engine off) would cause the timing chain to jump. I had one jump exactly 180 degrees which made it hard to find the problem. But they are not hard to change.Getting the harmonic balancer off is the most difficult.

My co worker has a extra ballast that I will be getting soon and thanks for letting me kno about the timing gear problem. But as if the other day when I Parker it she had 94,867.7 miles all orginal
I put 756 miles on it over the summer and she never let me strained anywhere. Well I did run it out of gas at school one day well I was leaving in the traffic but other then that I have never had another problem
