I don't want ya to fry your finals!! Gotta isolate that ground and power!!!! Top pic is as sent(i think?)...only way everything would fit in that tiny "small" flat rate box! lol. And no problem on the help man....btw, you've got a package headed your way. I'm sorry I totally spaced it....again. lol.

If there was a sticky or a really informative CB thread, that pic I posted should most definately be in it!

Is it still on the truck, if so give us a pic of how it is now hooked up ?

Shane,
Not only is it a good pic but all Coax on CB antennas should be hooked up with Wire Lugs because of two things…
1st - Lugs are easier and it is easier to get them through smaller holes when running the coax through the vehicle.
and
2nd - Wire Lugs are closer to a 50 ohm match (same as coax) than the PL-259 Connector is (the std CB type Coax Connectors).
So yes get it “Sticky’d".

Yeah....my shop ONLY deals with those style mounts. They only keep the screw-on crap around for when customers don't want the "hassle" of the crimp-on.

Here's pics of mine(if you were talking to me)...I might get a little excessive in the pics but this thread is obviously lacking in pics! dangit Pedro...

My setup was all done using tips from my local shop where I learned alot...but I still need to learn more! lol. The routing of the 18' of coax is different but it's what they suggested. The only thing I changed from their suggestions is using nutserts/threadserts for the mount. Them darn self tappers sucked. Wigglin' around freakin' antenna pisses me off. lol. Note: the ground bolt on the bracket is just for asthetics and routing of the coax. I have my ground the way it should be.....on the antenna stud! lol.

Oh...and Pedro... you should totally shorten your mount and use bolts like I did to mine!!

Nutserts are far better than a std sheet metal screw good idea but as PC stated hard to find, maybe JCWiney or Harbor Freight.
The idea of the separate ground is really a good one now if the ground screws up you don’t need to disassemble the whole thing.
My only heart ache, which I find everywhere is running 18ft of coax, it is necessary, it is only something to help the shop tune the antenna, that is if they tune the antenna.
In my experience, the coax should be as short as possible, when and if necessary 18 ft can be used but I have never run 18 ft of coax on a setup since my first CB , to far back to mention.
My last CB setup had approximately 3ft of coax; CB was on the roof mount and the antenna was on the Rack, it tuned easily and work great.
PC luck with your setup, make sure to get the antenna tuned.

Truck looks good cleaned up Shane.

I got Pedro handled on the nutserts and the redneck's version of the install tool... no worries there. I owe the guy....big time for my slacking.

Anyway...yeah, I go in every 6 months or so and have my swr checked and adjusted if needed. I always do it if I happen to need a new antenna too. I'm always pulling about a 0.5 to 1:1. When the 5ft got put on the truck, we read a 0.5:1. Having that tunable tip on the antenna really helps out too(FirestikII). I can't really say much in regards to coax lengths as I am still learning and have alot to learn, I just sorta go by what my shop suggests from their 30+ years expeience. The ground, they tell me, to put it on the stud instead because putting it on the external part of the mount creates a big issue with corrosion. And you already know this Sandy, ground is EVERYTHING!! I recently fixed my first eff-up and cut back a few inches to get some clean copper and redo my connections. They looks like the statue of liberty after 2 years. Now it's got the brush on electrical tape and everything is sealed nicely.

In short, I don't wanna sound like the engineer's son trying to torsion crank his truck but won't listen to us because if it's anyone but my dad, they're wrong here, but I am just going off what my shop has tought me because I'm still a noob! lol.

Thanks for the compliment, Sandy. Even though the pics here is it filthy! lol.

How do you red out the tail lights? I'm really interested in doing this because the yellow turn signal looks really bad with my electric blue color.

On a side note, I LOVE YOUR TRUCK!!!!!! I have basically modeled my truck after yours because its SO AMAZING!!! Thank you for the thread!

hey, so I saw your truck again today on my way to class and noticed your wheels are back to polished? if not then there is a clone of your truck around.. anyway, the truck looks great as usual. You have any ideas of good photo shoot spots around? I have been to the rail road tracks and stuff, just wondering!
