For 98~2000 only, Rangers use the rear axle ABS sensor to do double duty as the speed sensor. 2001+ use the Output Shaft Speed sensor on the transmission for the VSS.

Advanced called this morning. The bellhousing adapter is gonna take 2 weeks to get here. They are sending the transfer case adapter. The tranny guy wanted that piece ahead of time for the rebuild.

took the opportunity to put bed liner on the bottom of the cab.

What it looked like (btw, that metal heat shield seems like a rattle trap)

Removed heatshield and sound deadener:

I cleaned the area I applied the bedliner to. used carb cleaner as a degreaser, followed by windex, followed by scotchbrite pad. I have about half of it done:

I'll finish it up soon. 1 qt of herculiner for about $25 seems like enough to do the entire bottom of the cab.

haven't removed the item. My son shipped off to Missouri yesterday. Was spending as much time as I could with him. He belongs to Uncle Sam now.

I'd be worried about the Herculiner sort of melting between the exhaust heat and the heat off the tranny... Do you think that'd be an issue?

lol. If it was serious, I hoped all worked out well.

On the herculiner, I won't know until later. What I do know- I see more and more of this used as an undercoating. Conpmanies like Lizard Skin market for that purpose as either an insulation from heat and a sound deadener. Whether Herculiner as a brand can take it- I have no idea right now. I had a can in the garage so I went for it.

With all the miles I travel (average 120 miles minimum a day) and offroad tires, I'm trying to get the cab a little quieter. My tranny problems have been going on for several months before it finally gave out. The last few weeks I removed the boot from the shifter so I had a hole in the floor. Very Very noisy. It's gonna be nice just to have that hole covered solid.

I will put the factory sound deadeaning matt back on. If it does melt, it should keep it off the tranny and driveshaft.

revised ship date from advanced adapters is 6-15. aaarrrggh. not good. It's been bumped off of production twice now to fill an order for atlas. I guess advanced makes their cases or something.

sooo..tranny (with the transfer case advanced adapter installed) will be here Friday. 3 day weekend to get it all installed. Not gonna happen.

It's go time. UPS dropped off the last package from advanced adapters. I wasn't sure when it would get here so I never ordered the other stuff. I'll see if I can locate a flex plate tomorrow and start getting some progress done.

2 pics if they load. One is the tranny with the advanced adapter and rear output shaft coming out of the back to attach the transfer case. Also has the dipstick and tv cable. Torque convertor is in but you can;t see it.

The other is the adapters for the front side. The disc goes on the torque converter to attach to flywheel.

If the dealer comes through and gets my flex plate tomorrow I'll have a little progress and some real pics this weekend. $60 for it. Way cheaper than I would have guessed.
