Finally got another 04 4x4
I agree. I'm not sure where you'd put it, really. Too wide for the bumper, too narrow for the windshield. I guess you could do a custom mount on the roof or something.
I think for a roof mount, a curved one is in order. For a roof rack, a straight one is good. You might mock it up on both with some double sided 3M tape or something to see how it looks. Undecided on the width... 40" might look ok anywhere you mount it. Definitely not under the bumper though, you don't want your light bar to take the impact that a skid plate should.
Yea, that would be a very FRF thing to do. Someone over there did a how-to on how to do it wrong by drilling into your bumper.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the super high roof mounted light bars. if you can get a 50" curved one and down low so its just below the roof line across the windshield it looks way better.
For mounting a 40" or so on the front, I would just build a little light bar of sorts that could either bolt in where the tow hooks are. Or through to the frame or cross-member above the bumper or from under. If I had some good measurements, or a 4x4 ranger to use for mock up. I could make one for you.
kinda like this but better.

If I moved my hooks and put it in the bumper that would look sweet. And I've seen people cut the metal part and put it in front. That would look sweet but I don't wanna cut up the bumper.
Roof mounts are sweet and all but if you have any bad weather it makes the bar useless. The glare off the hood and rain/snow/dust makes it nearly impossible to see. My 20in on the roof mainly gets used for scene lighting, sucks for driving.
looks great!
Also I agree with Mike, best to keep lights below the hood line. But less glare can be had by using more spot beam than flood. And the cheaper the light bar, the more glare you'll have. As they tend to not focus lights as good, like projectors do when retro'd into regular lights. But a china bar is still better than nothing!

:/ I don't wanna talk about it... I wasn't sure how else to mount it without fabing all new brackets and I didn't have time or material for that right now. I don't plan on taking it off so I'm not worried about it.
oh wow, the i wouldve waited, theres people that have made them and will sell them cheaper than you can buy a big company will sell them for
There are plenty of guys that could've probably hooked you up with a nice mount. Kinda late now though.
