I think I used paint stripper and sanded down the plastic til the crack marks were gone. I also used 120, 240, 300-something, and then a 600 grit paper sequence til I got to where I wanted it. Adhesion promoter, with primer, followed by more 600 grit sanding then more adhesion promoter, primer then paint then clear.... Mine is good to go... I did the same with the console inserts, I don't think I used the 600 grit on those so you can see a few sand paper marks, I'll probably re-do them this summer along with the console itself.

It's not too glossy, the camera makes it appear that way. It looks good tho in the truck in the summer when I keep everything all clean and stuff!

Thank you Sir Beard! Yes its going to be a long process of converting to black interior. Were getting a good amount of rain so the painting is on standstill. I have one door panel done and my Explorer full center console done. I am going to get black carpet and some sound deadening for underneath the carpet, doors and the rear section of the truck. I need to wait for one good warm weekend to spray the dash and whatever other panels are left in there that I didn't take out. I like black interior better it just looks so much nicer, but it's going to be a pain to keep clean. This just gives me more of a reason to detail my truck every week or so!

Well I am still slowly working on my interior and am saving up for some new carpet floor mats and some second skin sound deadening. But I just purchased some stuff tonight for some more mods on the way:

07 Super Duty Third Brake Lights
High Powered LED's from super bright LEDs.com

Some LED Mirror Lights like what BlackonBlack used on his mirrors
VHT Nightshades

Well here is the progress on the interior painting.

Items Almost done:
Explorer Radio Bezel. Still need to smooth it out some more! Freaking thing is driving me nuts!

Size: 72.6 KB

All of these items need to be black!

After the Radio bezel is done I will start on the pile of interior pieces that need paint. Right now I'm riding around in a bare cab. I am also going to order up some Second Skin products such as Damplifier Pro, Luxury Liner Pro, as well as some under coating that they sell. I hope to get enough to cover the floor, roof, doors, and rear section of the cab, and then put on the Luxury Liner Pro just on the floor. Then do the undercoating of Spectrum to really keep all the hums and noise down. Jp7 did this to his truck and says his is like a high end luxury car or better. I still need to order my black carpet and floor mats. It's a long process but I'm taking my time and being patient.

What did you use on the bezel as filler? Mine has some scratches that are driving me crazy.

Very nice, your interior is going to be EXACTLY how I want mine to be, but I'm too scared to paint it and not spending the money to order all new black plastic from Ford. One question, how hard was it to get the suede on those door panels? Any tips? It doesn't stretch too much so I bet it's pretty hard. I might be doing mine tomorrow.

That suede looks amazing. I really want it done to my doors.

If you get a chance post up how you did it.

Ordered up my Sound Deadening material from Second Skin, as well as my new black Carpet, and black floor mats from Weather Tech. I painted up some more interior pieces black and will need to get some more paint to finish the interior pieces I took out. Then on one good weekend off I'm going to take out the interior and get the sound deadening in new carpet, speakers, and paint the dash up. I was wanting to get my seats recovered but I think I will hold off on it and just get some Wet Okole seat covers. I am thinking of all black. I don't like many color choices that they have for it. If anyone has any ideas on what color would go good in the middle of the seat covers post them up!

I really thought about doing my interior all black. I still might when I get vinyl and new seat belts.

Interior Update...

Well here is somewhat of a small update. I may need a new camera sometime this year. This is what I have accomplished in the last 3 days:

Put on sound deadening in cab. Roof, rear of cab, Doors. Still need to do the floor I am waiting on the carpet. Got some black suede for my headliner and got it installed today. Did some more painting with the interior pieces. I know the pics are not the best I will try to get better ones tomorrow.

Mustang Dome light, explorer overhead console. I like it! The suede on the roof is awesome. Suede in any vehicle is pure sex!

02+ Sport Trac or

02+ Explorer Sport 2 Door.

I want to get them recovered in Black Suede outer and Black Tweed material in the middle. Then have RANGER stitched in the head rest either silver or white thread.
