Matt,
The truck looks awesome and I'm extremely jealous! I will say as far as glass is concerned stay away from Hanneman. I've got 4in flare x 2.5 rise and they were an absolute biznitch to line up. Glassworks has a really good rep....good luck!

Fan-freakin'-tastic!

Really fast on the install too. When do you expect to get the axles?

Wow looks great! i cant wait to see how it does on the trail, this has been my longterm plan, build a long travel rig less for going fast and more for just backcountry wheelin. Keep up the good work.

Yes, I am going to keep the 4X4. Truck is currently setup as 2 wheel drive because the new axles are out of stock. As soon as they show up (hopefully no more than a few weeks from now), I will return it to 4X4. The kit widens the stance by 4.5" per side if I remember correctly. It looks like the wheels will clear the light bar. Once I add the glass up front I will trim the light bar to match. I also need to build a new skid plate on to the current light bar or scratch the current light bar and start over. I will be loosing some ride height when I add the 4X4 components as the suspension is extended more than it should be right now.

Wow that's so sick man!

I wish you woulda taken a before and after of the height difference.... Showing if it gains or loses lift or what not... Nonetheless, that's badass... JEALOUS!

Thanks for the comments. I found out today that it is difficult to find a shop that can align a truck with an extended front end. I went to Big O and they gave it a shot. They gave me a printout showing that everything was to factory spec. As I left the parking lot the truck started pulling hard left. When I returned to Big O they admitted that they could not fully align the tires since the front tires were not in line with the rear tires. What a bunch of morons. Thankfully, they refunded my money. After a lot of searching, I finally found someone that agreed to manually align the truck. Long story short, the truck is finally driving straight.

6" flair, black gel coat fiberglass fenders are on order and should arrive in AZ on Thursday. I chose to go with Fiberwerx. Hopefully that was a good choice.

As for ride height, in the pictures the truck is sitting level if not slightly nose high with the RCD rear end. With the front end setup like that, I probably only had 2-3 inches of droop travel remaining. Since those were taken, I have reduced the preload on the springs. The truck is now sitting with an approximate 2" rake forward. I plan on swapping to a shorter shackle to lower the bed height a bit until I can long travel the back suspension.

Yes, my goal is to do a flipped shackle set up similar to that. I am not sure if I will use a 64" leaf spring setup similar to the Giant Motorsports pack or if I will use a shorter Deaver spring pack. The Giant pack allows you to run a spring under set up, which will eliminate axle wrap. However, the Giant pack runs $1,700.00 (includes mounting brackets, shackles and hardware). For the next year or so, I will likely just swap in a shorter shackle than the RCD shackle. The main purpose of the swap will be to level the truck rather than have the rear of the truck sticking up in the air.

Have you ordered your kit? If so, congratulations. Are you going to do the whole truck at once or just the front end like me?

That's lie. Any of the modern alignment machines do not need the rear to match the front to align a truck. The two are not dependent on each other. It will give an error that the track width is not the same but once you click past that it works like normal. At least this is what the latest gen Hunter laser machine did when I was learning alignment.

Anywho... I had a Just Tires pull that on me once, so I took it to Firestone, they had no problem doing it and even gave me a Lifetime Alignment, with the truck in its current state. What probably happened is what happens to me more often then not, the tech was probably lazy and didn't set the camber correctly, if at all. If it appears 'close' in the machine it will show up as ok when infact its not. They pull this crap on me all the time where they won't even touch the camber adjusters. I just yell and they fix it...lol.

Truck looks good though! We need more pictures! Like full truck shots, and it out in the dirt!

Thanks. Being a daily driver it could not be down for long. Glass should arrive on Thursday, so time permitting I will try to install it this weekend. After that, I will have to resolve the engine cross brace issue, and eventually install the 4X4 parts (when the arrive) and rear cross brace. I am itching to get it off of pavement!

AWESOME THREAD!! I can't believe I missed it before!! DANGIT i want those arms!! I wonder if there's a way to retain 4wd, have DBR arms, AND RCD or superlift drop brackets using their knuckles...hmm....

What are you using to hold the hubs together? little CV stubs?

I believe that it is possible. I actually quizzed Aaron on it before I bought the kit. Basically, you would have to run a longer shock to compensate for the height of the drop bracket. However, when it came down to decision time, I decided that a long travel setup without a sway bar would be sketchy with a high center of gravity. Plus the fact that I have decided to move more towards a true prerunner setup. As for the hubs, I used the outer stub axle from a stock cv shaft to keep the hub together until I am able to install the new axles.

Gotcha. Basically I was just playing with the idea in my head on if it's even possible. I want solid axle...but not yet. but i want the height I've got now, no ball joint issues, no cv issues, and longer travel have having an axle pulling at the same time.

thanks for the info.

Trevor,

I think that you would want the full kit to make this work. While it may be feasible to use the RCD Bilstein coil over shocks with the stock mount point on the frame, I don't believe that set up would work. First of all, the shock mount on the Dixon LCA is on the front half of the arm vs. on the back half of the LCA with the RCD setup. So, the DBR shock hoops would be necessary to get the proper shock alignment to clear the CV axle. Secondly, I am not sure how well a 2.0 diameter shock would handle the additional leverage that the longer LCA's would produce. You would also need the steering tie rod extensions and limit straps that are included with his kit.

I've thought about that too. Trevor, let us know what you find out.

I think it'd probably be best to go with the whole kit and then just buy longer coilovers since they're separate anyway.

Double lifted 4wd long travel FTW!! lol

Wow. DBR can get bent. $2900 for just the upper, lower and CV's.

I can easily make my own for that price.
