i may have pissed off everyone at school, in all 3 classes.. but that air hammer definitely made it a TON easier. if you can get it between the frame and bracket it peels off flush. just hit it with a flapper to make it pretty.. for us atleast haha

dunno if it'll work on the inside as well but its worth a shot. If you were closer i would bring my torch over.

in the mean time i've found a use for the exposed metal where the pass. air bag was, its time for my truck to have a proper "oh-sh*t" grab bar ha

edit, thats not thick enough for that use.

Little bit more progress. Got all the brackets off the frame except for the crossmember. Gonna work on it tomorrow, still gotta plan my course of action for that dude. Still gotta get the cuts all ground down and cleaned up.

Where did you get that Jack? Do you like it?

Looks good, id suggest removing the power steering lines before cutting into that bracket. just hack it off quick then go for a cleaner cut. I used a SawsAll once, but I prefer the torch now. :)

The jack is a Matco Tools 'lowjack'. I don't think they make that particular jack anymore, but its a very nice jack. Doesn't release to fast and it lifts high. Its a couple years old now and was around $350. Not cheap but its good jack.

I've got the sawzall and grinder ready to go at the crossmember. I asked everyone I could think of if they new someone that would let me borrow a torch but no one has one Oh well. I'll get after the power steering before I start cutting

I don't know how much ill get done tomorrow, its football day you know.

Are you going to be welding all those random holes on the frame???? It would look real nice and only take a little bit of work.

zach, you can also get a tall jack like that from Harbor Freight... I've had one for a couple years and no probs... also, only about $150

- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

they also have stronger steel ones

The steel ones also go up 4 more inches. I got mine for 59.99 and it works great for the 150.

I don't think I'll be doing that, its not really necessary and I'm not doing this for the presentation.

My dad has that jack and the quality is nowhere near that of the matco, not to mention the 17" lift height is 7 inches lower than that of the matco. If you don't need the height it would be fine, but thats the whole reason I have the matco jack.

Updates! Got the crossmember cut out, still need to do a lot of grinding to clean up the frame. Figured I'd throw the axle under there for a test fit though, slowly gettin there lol. Still gotta find a damn allen wrench to get the superlift shaft off, guess I lost that tool somewhere in my last move.

Got one more update for the weekend. Had a friend come over and help me clean the frame. All the brackets are completely gone!
