Roach's D44 SAS Thread!

Well I picked this up from Matt (99ranger4x4) it's a Dana 44 out of a 1978 Ford F-150. I need to buy a whole bunch of small stuff right now I am thinking about running coilovers since I have to buy leaf springs and front shocks anyway. I plan on doing the install in January as I spent all my money on the axle. I cant wait to get this under way.

Until I start the instalation I am going to take it apart replace the seals and bearing. While I am doing that I am going to sand it down and probably put some Por 15 on it.

(Sorry it was raining when I took these pictures I will get better pictures later)

Anyone have any good links on here about coilovers and solid axles? I have been searching but have not found any really good info.

Well that's a surprise Andy! Your truck is 2wd isn't it?

If you need a hand, let me know and I may be able to help.

The spool will probably be coming coming out and a ls/locker will be going in. I will probably swap the 5.13's out to 4.56's or something like that. For the rear I am going to be running a Ford 9" my friend says he can get me one for free so I am going to see where that leads me. I will not be swapping it to 4wd for probably 5-6 months cause the $$$ thing. lol I just want to get it up under the truck right now. I can run the 5.13's in there as long as I dont hook up the 4wd so I am good on that end.

I might end up swapping a 4.0 in it when I do the conversion. So I can buy the engine transmission together since mine is going out soon probably. I want to get a manual transfer case too.

What do you mean I'm still alive? I'm surprised YOU'RE still alive! Glad to see you back Leo.

And yeah Andy what happened to your coilover drop deal?

Also, I wouldn't mess with swapping the gears around if I didn't have to. That's an extra $300 you don't really have to spend.

I wanted to drop it but if I am going total custom I am going to lift it and get rid of this POS IFS I am so tired of replacing the bearings and stuff. Now I got an axle that can handle the 35's!

I am surprised ya'll are all alive after the beach thing. I whooped your asses good!
