I picked up a Superchips Flashpaq. The truck went on the dyno to get the speedo/odometer accurate. That was my reason for getting it. I don't know much oabout anything with these things. Here is what I e-mailed Superchips
What is the Ranger-Forum opinion or fact about how this thing is supposed to work? I know Superchips isn't the best or favored much on R-F, but other info on if I need to send it out or just plug and play etc. Thanks
I just got a Superchips Flashpaq. My main reason for getting it was because I have larger tires and new gears in my axle and I wanted an accurate speedometer and odometer (which I do now, thank you). I noticed this product has other performance features. When I asked my Superchips dealer about it they said that they won't adjust any performance features and that it needs to be done by somebody else because things can get burned up if not done properly. I read through the informational booklet that it came with and I don't see where it mentions that. Is my delaer just trying to cover themselves in case something goes wrong? I don't want to "burn" anything up. They are a speedo shop and this is what they specialize in so I thought they could do it all.

I don't have a clue. They just put it on there to make sure my speedo is correct. I called Superchips and they said go ahead and use it. I boosted up the shifting pressure to make the shifts more firm and also have it in economy mode. With the 5.13 gears, 35s and the programmer in economy mode I was turning 2,060 RPMs going 60MPH down the highway. That is an improvement over the 2,300 I was at before. Of course when I go wheeling it won't be in economy mode, probably in tow mode (more torque).
I run my tuner in tow mode all the time.
I love your truck, haven't check in on it in a while and It is looking great. Gives me alot of inspiration on what I'm going to be doing with my explorer project.

It is simple. You just follow the steps for what you want to do. It tells you when to have the ignition on or off and the manual explains how to measure your tires so the speedo is accurate.
The next round of mods are coming up within the next month or sooner. New front leaf springs. The stock Waggy springs ride so nice but I need a little height plus the front is about 2" lower than the rear. I'm going with the Rancho 44044 up front. The rear shock mounts are being rotated so they don't hang down. They're beat to crap and get caught on rocks all the time. New rear driveshaft. The factory aluminum is just waiting to be torn to shreds so a custom steel one is on order. Also finally getting my Rigid Industried LEDs. Next summer planning on exo cage.
I recently got back from a trip to Utah. 8 hour drive each way and this truck did perfect. Averaged 16mpg. It was more of a family fishing trip but I managed to get away to do some wheeling/exploring. Found some snow to play/drive through too!

Oh here is another. I found some Toyotas and decided to say hi!

Off topic forom the above pic:
The Ranger was beat up last month by some nasty rocks that didn't like long wheelbase and a fat overhanging rear. That was my main motivation to get this going. Stupid Jeeps, peer pressure, and a night run......

and i agree with you on the aluminum shaft....im stuck between hackin up an explorer one...or getting one made...
love the action shots though!
I understand what you mean about cleaner, but wheeling tight trails sheet metal doesn't slide over rocks as well as .120 DOM. Wheeling down near Florence and trails off of Box Canyon such as Jack Hammer or Martinez Mine Loop and others made my mind up on this deal. It's a safety thing but also a funcationality deal. Cmack48 cheats because he already knew my thinking on this. haha

I'd rather have the cage as a just in case. I don't want body damage and have avoided it for the most part. I would like to push my truck and not have a body that resembles a crushed pop can. That is next year at the soonest so plans can change too.....
when u plan on doing the exo? im starting as soon as i can but never the less mor eideas wouldnt be bad.. specially as i got a simple 90° bender..
gona look sick sases and the exo! u plan on keepeng the camper ? how u think to do the rollcage on it?

The camper I'm not sure yet. I like it for being able to put stuff in the bed and not worry about it being stolen, camping gear not being covered in mud, rain, snow, etc., and my sleeping quarters are back there too. It won't be protected by the exo, I know that. I'll be looking for ideas and talking to my fabricator as far as ideas.
