there isn't really a good benefit to having the axle go forward instead of back. If the shackles are on the rear it will push back yes, that is why its nice to move the axle forward a few inches. Also I makes a bit more sense to have the axle flow with the direction of the bumps and rocks you hit, as apposed to having the axle have to try and go the opposite way. just my .02 on the issue.

anyways... truck is lookn badass!

I like your thinking and thanks. I was more or less thinking of how it was set-up stock and also I don't want that tire smashing back into the cab area. Either way I went with it I was giving up something or changing it.

Beard, I didn't measure anything. That is what he told me.

I'll update this thread later tonight with pictures.
only reason i say that is the steering box can only go forward so far before it hits the radiator, then your Tie rod will bind with the drag link

thats sexy! now he has to disasemble and weld thoes bushing tubes on a lil more. damn thats lookin good. hopfully you can motivate him a tad more to get your steering done! also wait to see if your spings to settle before you buy shackles for the rear. the rear will also settle but not as much as the front. may drop about an inch or so all around but more so in the fornt.

Everything is tacked in right now. The top of that custom bracked still needs to be welded up along with almost everything else. We didn't want to weld everything up and then realized something is screwed up.

The rear has been sitting on those springs since the end of October so I know they are pretty settled. Either way I want the shackles on the rear as once I have all my wheeling crap back there it will be down a little. If anything I'd rather have the rear up an inch or so. Kind of like a factory rake.

dude! looking sooo sick!! i really wanna newer ranger now to SAS WITH LEAFS!! im really starting to like leafs for some reason.. i donno why, just because they keep the axle under the vehicle so well and are super durable!! but i did beat to you to getting my 5.13s front and rear!! btw you'll love them on the trail cause they are nuts + being locked front and rear is absurdly amazing!!! only negative is on the freeway, the 5.13s suck! im stuck driving a little bit slower but its totally worth it and you got another truck so its all good!

5.13's aren't bad on the freeway. It's actually nice holding a gear and never having to shift even on steep hills.

true true... 5.13s arent to bad, and actually safer because i dont drive as fast now on the highway. is it bad for the engine to have the rpms at about 2500 or even at 3000 for an extended period of time?? how does that affect milage.

Here is the latest picture from Thursday last week.

Front crossmember.

Toyota Steering Box

The steering is the goal this week. Then shock hoops/tabs, tranny crossmember and that is it for the main part. Then onto shop #2 for brakes and regear the 8.8 to match the front 5.13s. It has been a slow build, but progress each week and it is turning out to be pretty badass.

Once it is finished up we can meet up. I know the Phoenix guys are growing so maybe it could be an open invite and a little mini meet too.
