What year Ranger?
2WD or 4x4?
What size engine?
Manual or automatic trans?
And if you know, Rear ABS only or 4-wheel ABS?
The lift itself doesn't need/require the larger rotors
The tire size/weight does, the heavier the wheels/tires the harder they will be to slow down and stop, which is why you need the larger brakes

It sounds like that Rough Country 4wd lift spindle kit. They say 98-11 kit, but with 98-03 (around 03?), you'll have to get 12" rotors. Weird.
I think they set up the spindles in the kit to go with the 12" rotors, but with bigger rotors, can you use the stock caliper? It's a different radius, isn't it? I would think one would also need the 12" calipers, too, right?
That's another detail RC could include with their package.
Or I could be off and it's not that RC kit, but it sounds similar to what you're asking.
