Swapping ranger single cab to extra cab frame

I've got an 07 Ford ranger 4 x 4 sport single cab automatic with a 3.0 in it. What am I going to have to do to swap the single cab/3.0 motor and trans to a 07 Ford ranger 4 x 4 extra cab with a 4.0 and 5 speed trans?

Welcome to the forum

Just to be clear you want to swap the 3.0l power train into another Ranger, both 4x4s

You need to swap in the 3.0l instrument cluster and computer to the new cab, also the ignition key cylinder, and door cylinders if you want them to match
Also the 3.0l engine and trans wiring harness and mounts(trans mount may be the same?)
Swap radiator, need trans cooler and its lines
Swap steering columns, or go with a 3rd party automatic floor shifter

The transfer cases are the same so you can use either

I think the power steering pumps and AC are interchangeable, but not sure

Heads up on the cluster and computer, 2004 - 2011 Rangers got the HEC instrument clusters, digital, each is "married" to its engine computer at the factory so they are a matched set, Ford can "remarry" them if one fails but if you swap them as a set that won't be needed
Your 3.0l transponder Keys are also matched to the cluster, so the 4.0l keys wouldn't work with the new cluster, but just swap the key cylinder, or steering column to use 3.0l keys with 3.0l cluster

Swapping an 07 ranger single cab, 3.0 motor and auto trans onto an 07 extra cab frame

I am swapping my 07 Ford ranger 4x4 single cab to a 07 Ford ranger 4 x 4 extra cab frame. The extra cab frame came with a 4.0 v6 with a 5 speed manual trans. What am I going to run into when I put my 3.0 and automatic trans in the extra cab frame? My goal is to swap my single cab/body panels and possibly some of the drivetrain. From what I can tell the extra cab frame is about 2ft longer resulting in a longer rear drive shaft. I'm aware that I will have to move the rear cab mounts forward. How will this affect where the motor and transmission line up with the rear drive shaft?

???

You would use the extra cabs rear drive shaft

3.0l or 4.0l with either transmission and transfer case are the same length

Front shaft will be the same on either

Whats the goal here?
Longer flat bed or camper conversion

I think I'm looking to go with the flat bed option. What about motor mounts? Will they interchange?

No, you need to pull the 3.0l mounts and move them to the other frame, or put in new ones, up to you
