the closes guys to me on here is taylor and seed60, pretty sure im too far for them to come hang out and ranger it up for a day.

all i got to say is im on both, not knocking either one of them, theyre both good in different sense
I can see that. I guess it just depends on who it is that's nearby. I'm almost 30.. I don't really want a bunch of 20 and unders at my house with no technical skill or knowledge.. it doesn't help me. Maybe I'm just old and bitter, but kids annoy me, lol

All forums have their ups and downs. Just a few years ago RF was racking up over 40,000 posts a week. Hopefully Tom never gets tired or too busy to keep the site or frf will probably end up where we are now.

It's almost impossible to get guys from So-Cal together. I commented on a thread over there saying I'd be willing, but they are like East LA.. it's not exactly close.. 2-3 hour drive usually. But nothing ever comes of it.

Ranger owners between the age of 22 and 40 are few and far between. FRF is what it is because the kids do nothing but BS, and it makes the forum look more active than it really is. There's barely any tech info going on over there. Sometimes I felt like I was the only active member really modifying my truck past the point of appearance items, and all I did was a manual trans and 4x4 swap. lol.

I read through 15 pages of one thread, the kid plastidipped his rims, his grille, his bumper, and added LED pods and an LED bar.. I think I got to the point where he got more tires. That's really it. I have so many mods done to mine, over 5 1/2 years, and it's like 4 pages long, haha.

They all seem to go down after awhile. The old members with knowledge move on, sell their truck, get banned or whatever and seems we are past the point of many new people that do anything new or creative. There is no aftermarket and not many people want to dump money into them anymore.

You nailed it.

I've personally stuck around here over the other sites for the quality of info that is here without all the BS clogging up the threads. Sure, we don't have as many active guys here, but everyone here knows how to act. It's not just a bunch of punk 16 year olds doing $10 mods to their truck or using mommy and daddy's money. The build threads here are actual builds, not "check out my plastidip, walmart seat covers, and autozone chrome."

That and the fact that here most of us aren't just using our truck as a beater. We actually care about keeping it around for a while. And if we don't know something, we keep our mouth shut and wait for Ron D to give the answer.

RonD doesn't have enough time in the day to answer all the dumbass questions on FRF.

Maybe that's why nice built trucks don't exist on Frf anymore. We don't plasti dip our trucks and spend all day posting bs. I'll stick with building my axle and finishing my long travel and some methods

I'm here cus it was around first. I have an account there but haven't checked in on it in a while.

This site, FRF and TRS are just basically information locations. You do have to sift through some (or a lot) of Bullshit but it's there. The 3/4 people who I met from here and have moved on from this site are within an hour away. Jesus, our meets at silver lake have 3 rangers that are staples, a couple fiddy's and some quads. It's more for the company. Don't get me wrong, the wheeling is nice but the booze and shenanigans are better.

This site is better now that Rick isnt in charge and it's nice to not get blasted for swearing.
Some members (and mods/admin) don't have Rangers anymore but they still have knowledge of the truck itself or in running a site and are kinda grandfathered in.

I did notice in the last month or so a lot of complaining about FRF and it was getting to be a bit much. So I just stopped looking at the chat.

Come join the chat, we talk a lot about other stuff. The FRF stuff is usually just disbelief about something stupid. Kind of like seeing something so horrific, and you should look away, but don't. It's kind of like that, haha. We joke about plastidip, but that's pretty much it.

Plastidip is so last week... Bed Liner is where it's at now HA!
(only say that 'cause I'm gonna bedliner my entire truck one of these days)

After my time being a mod on a ranger forum I can tell you that the guys who do it can spend way too much of their time putting out fires & babysitting & too little time actually getting to post.

Every forum has it's ups & downs, but eventually the BS gets resolved as troublemakers get banned.

I mainly go on frf for the bs thread and just bs. I rarely ever look at the project logs on there. But I think its like every other forum, there is good advice and also there is bad advice.
