i don't know why everyone brags on HP.....

I ordered XP Pro reboot disc for my computer (since i bought my computer with XP Pro on it). The disc cost $5 + shipping. I paid an extra $20 to have them shipped overnight so I could get my computer back up and running at home......It took 4 days to get them (they stated that if i ordered them by 4pm PST that they would ship out that day), i ordered them at 8pm that night (after 4pm PST and i knew that), and they didn't ship for 2 more days.......Then i get them and they are XP Home disc, granted the wouldn't work because they are not right....i call to get my CORRECT disc shipped out to me and i can't understand the person i am talking to....i finally get an American on the phone who I can understand. I told him again what the problem was....i told him i wanted them next day'd to me and to have them shipped out that day because i ordered the correct disc, but they sent me the wrong ones; and i had paid for next day shipping......he laughed at me and said because the time of year it was, i had to be joking......i politely told him i wasn't and it was very possible (take in mind, this is Monday that this happened)......so the best they could do was send me "free" the proper disc.....so i really wasted my money on the shipping because i still don't have the correct disc.....

Their customer service sucks......i can't understand 99.9% of their customer service personell because they are in India or where ever they are.....I have NEVER spoken to a foreign Dell customer service or tech support person......

I wont ever buy HP again based on this customer service experience...

i agree maurice...heres my horror story with my compaq laptop i HAD (HP owned)..

my screen had gone out on my laptop (under warranty, no big deal)..i contact them via webchat, they tell me fedex will come get it and to ship it in the original box...wait 1 month, nothing, 2 months, nothing, 3 months we call, they say oh yea its getting fixed now, 2 more months, we call the hp headquarters, get a person to look into my case...1 week later they call and tell me that it accidently got shipped back to where it was built, and when that happens, that they sell it wholesale to a buyer who fixes them and resells them...hes a jerk, wont send it back, long story short, i got my money back and lost all my files that was on my computer, and i was pissed, and wont get an hp again

every body i have ever talked to in customer service or tech support from Dell has been in Nashville, TN.......maybe it is the fact that all the Dell computers here at work have the "Gold" tech support option on them...

ive had two dells for over 4 years and no problems with them except the occasional virus. Never had to use customer service either so i cant make judgment on that part.

I have a franken-dell. Only thing on it that's still factory is my mother board, DVD-rom, 1 internal HD, and the tower. Never had a problem with the computer, except now. It's gotten slow, needs to be reformated and I'm not looking forward to that. Actually not looking forward to moving all my files to my external HD.

EDIT: FWIW, this Dell was received in early 02 as a free-of-charge replacement. The old computer was a p3 500 with a 40 gig HD, DVD and CD-RW roms, nvidia 64 mb card with 512 mb memory. The replacement, and current comp, is a 1.7 gig p4 with DVD and CD-RW roms, 80 gig HD, nvidia 64 mb card, soundblaster live. I've upgraded it to a dynex 450 watt power supply, GeForce 6200OC 256 mb card, Creative X-Fi sound with 6.1 creative speakers, 1 gig memory (max for MoBo), a Samsung SyncMaster 171v 17in flat panel (made in 02 and sucks for fps in gaming), a 2nd 80 gig HD, and a 160 gig western digital external HD (most I could afford 1.5 years ago, now with what I paid I could get some serious storage!).

Yep, thats the reason i bought a cheapy $400 comcrap, it has done the jobfor the past couple of years, but is starting to go schitzo on me.. sooo time for a replacement
Besides, with all of the changing technology these days, why buy an expensive machine when yours is just going to be outdated the next year or so?

I really think its worth it for my laptop. All my Windows computers slowed down after a while and I had to clean the hard drive and reinstall the OS to bring it back to new, but with my laptop never. When I bought my laptop the prices were very competitve so it wasnt that bad.

true D.........but the local Apple store for me is almost an hour away......

the main reason i still have Windows based machines is because of running AutoCAD....from what I understand, Mac's don't like to run it all that great/fast....

The fastest Vista laptop was a Macbook Pro this year, and thats from PC World. With Boot Camp a Mac will run any Windows OS just as fast/faster than any PC.

For the last couple years i have built my computers but i was big time into gaming so i had to have a beast of a computer to run my games. Just recently though i sold my gaming computer for 700 bucks now im definitely going to buy a Laptop Hp or Gateway is what i was going to go with since they are alot cheaper then the dells.

I hate when that happens... our 3 year old emachine is getting to the point where I never know if its working correctly, and it sounds like it's about to take off and fly out of the room... I swear it needs better cooling but I don't wanna start dumping cash in a old PC... for $300 I can buy a new HP Desktop with decent processor...
