IAC Problem

Ok guys today I replaced my IAC valve with a new one, but for some reason when I start up it wont run on its own and sit and idle. If I get on the gas it will stay running and stay at where ever I rev to but if I let off the gas it dies. I know most when this happens they just unplug the battery and reset the computer and it works fine. I did that to mine, took just the negative side off, and then also another time took both neg and pos off for and it still is doing it, any suggestions?

the proper way to reset the computer is take both battery cables off and hold them together for about a minute but make sure theyre not connected to the battery...

let it idle...you just reset the computer and it has to relearn everything...it should only take a few minutes

well it would be kind of hard trying to drive aorund with it atleast 3,000 or more rpms lol. but idk if this changes anything but I unhooked negative cable, unplugged iac and put my old one on. hooked the iac cable up then hook negative battery side up and it fired up and ran right. turned off and did all that except put on new iac and it did the 3 grand thing again. Wonder why it runs right with the old one but not the new one?
