Sorry if I'm asking this in the wrong place, its my first post.

So my question is will a engine out of my 1991 Explorer fit in my 1986 Ranger.

The Explorer is a 91 4WD manual 4ltr V6, and the Ranger is a 86 2.9ltr 4WD automatic V6.

Questions being will the 4ltr fit in the Ranger, and what is needed to make it work? Like wiring and so forth, and will the transmission bolt right up to it and everything, so forth and so on. And what kind of price would I be looking at for those extra parts to make it work.

Just asking because I have never put a different motor into it, other then another 2.9ltr engine that was the same motor. So I'd like to maybe hear from someone thats done it. And if it works, the type of price range, and if its a smart thing to do, or if it would be smarter to just find another 2.9ltr for it. Thanks for any help!
