I need opinions fast! help help guys haha 02 fx4 trade for 88 stx AND Sami

ok so recently i was lucky enough to have my AWESOME 02 fx4 have the timing chain rattle. took it in to my buddys shop and they tore it down to expose that pretty much all 4 (yes all 4 front and back) tensioner guides were gone, shredded to bits and that my chain was just slapping around on the dowel that holds the tension to the chain. the broken bits got sucked down into my oil pan and from the looks of it are stuck up against the oil pump screen messing up my oil pressure. right now the engine is out for them to do both timing assemblies, and take apart the bottom end to check to see if there is any heat wear on the bearings or anything.

BUT, here's the kicker.

the shop owners son offered me a pretty much straight trade or maybe something like 500 bucks on my part for his 88 high ride Ranger STX with 160000 on it AND his Suzuki Sami with a rebuilt motor, motor mounts, and tranny mounts with only 1500 miles on the new motor. should i do it? i've always wanted two cars, one as a daily (ranger) and one to just beat the hell out of and have fun with (sami) and i have that opportunity now. is there anything i should be wary of for those two vehicles? if so what? i need your guys' help on this...

thanks, Pavel

do not do it. that 88 probably wont make a great daily, my 89 2.9 was at 150k and everytime i made it somewhere it was a mini miracle.

edit: and your twinsticks?

Are you dumb??

$10K Ranger (that needs 800$ new engine)

or

1000$ sammi
+
1000$ Ranger STX

YAh, definately make the trade dude. If you want to trade your nice truck for two unpolished turds, enjoy

So lemme get this straight, you wanna trade one 8 year old vehicle for two 20+ year old vehicles on top of it all possibly costing you $500 in addition to the trade?

Is he offering a large quantity of crack as part of the deal?

haha realistically i'd only be able to sell my truck here for about 6k and its a minty stx and a rebuilt sami, which would ALMOST be worth it but upon retrospection you guys are all right. its close to a thousand dollar job though, probably more but oh well. i've given up on that prospect over the last few hours.

yeah i'm twin sticked but i for damn sure this is the last issue i have with this truck...

You and me both. We have the identical truck. You'd have to be on a serious amount of drugs to even have to think about that trade...

i just really hate the ranger front suspension and the fact that there is absolute **** for aftermarket product for the vehicle.
