2005 Ranger SAS

Thinking of swapping my truck to a 4x4. It's a 2005 XLT 2.5L Manual trans w/ coil spring suspension. Found everything to do a complete swap drivetrain wise. I already have two D60's sitting at the shop. Just want some opinions on the best way for the suspension. Control arms or leafsprings?

Ya. The transfer case, rear housing, and driveshafts off of a 94 xlt 2.5L 4X4 bolts up with no problem.

I have been researching. And I know the different control arm set ups, but thank you for your input. I was wondering if anybody has or may know anyone who has done a swap on a coil spring front end because the spring goes into the frame instead of the outside like on a torsion bar front end, and what type of suspension swap would work the best for that frame type.

There is so much wrong with that sentence lol

First of all the 2.5L was from 98-00. You have a 2.3L Lima from a 94. Secondly, how do you expect to run twin D60s with honkin' tires with a 115hp I4? Do you plan on doing your rock crawling on gravel and your muddin' in parking lots? Thirdly, why would you put a 94 I4 in a 2005 truck. You will have to completely gut the electrical to down grade that much. The systems are completely different.

You really oughta watch the things you post. Your information is highly misleading and wrong.

^^^^^ Umm I think you guys are misunderstanding him, not me. Here is what he has told us:

He has a 2005 2WD XLT with a 2.5L (probably a 2.3L DOHC and he doesn't know it)
He has twin D60s he wants to swap in
He has a 1994 2.5L 4x4 that he is using for 4x4 parts (2.5L were only from 98-00 so it's probably a 2.3L Lima)

I did just realize that I thought he was swapping the 94 2.3L into his truck, which he is not, just putting the 94 2.3L 4x4 parts on his 2005 2.3L DOHC. So I misunderstood that. But it still means he is trying to run D60s on a 2.3L I4 and there is no 2.5L involved so he doesn't know his engine displacement.

Reading back though I defiantly misunderstood what he meant. Still applies mostly though.

Its underrated, i'll say that, but Contorl arms are better IMO. but... its generally common to use Leaf Springs.

If I were doing D60's I would do an engine upgrade personally, simply because you are dealing with a heavier all around drivetrain
