I have a 2002 Ranger 3.0. I have replace the coil plugs and wires. I have replaced the fuel filter. I have cleaned the idle air control valve and check for manifold leaks. cleaned the air filter. Still getting the same code cylinder 6 misfire. The engine will barely idle and shakes the whole truck continously but drives great and same gas mileage. however new problems began today. now trying to come to a stop is almost impossible because the engine wants to idle at 2000 rpm. after a minute or to it finally slows back done. I also have black smoke coming out the tail pipe and sucks to accelerate now. I dont know what else to do. PLEASE HELP ME!

 

well the black smoke means your engine is running super rich...try cleaning the MAF next

 

already cleaned that to.

 

Try unplugging the MAF.

 

did that to, no change. I have reset the computer and it comes back after a couple of minutes. cylinder six misfire? maybe the computer has gone bad.

 

bad injector? mine ran fine some days, but might decide to lug and misfire/run rough periodically. check resistance at injectors.
