How Long

Should front brakes last? I had mine changed less than 6 months ago and they need changing again. Since they were changed I have driven just over 10,000 miles? They were installed by Mazda.

longer than 10K - that is for sure
check brake equalization - sounds like you are doing all your stopping with the front pads

Mine last 20,000 each time. I got Wagners and they are lasting longer now.

10k? 20k? Wow guys. I've got 29k on my current truck w/ the original brakes w/ plenty of wear to go. Also I traded my last truck at just about 50k w/ the original brakes too!

My brakes are stock, OEM, factory installed whatevers.. I have yet to do a break job (or have one done) on a Ranger.. ever.

I drive a mix, probably 50/50 highway and city miles.. although it was probably more like 30 city/70 highway w/ my last truck. What might change things is I drive stick and I do downshift. I rarely if ever ride the brakes..

17k on my stock pads, and ford said they looked brand new, i guess it depends on your breaking habits and/or tire sizes

Damn The delivery work I used to do, this is probably what wore mine out so quick. Thanks for the suggestions

^^^ That's probably it. I'm betting a lot of stop and go.. Something tells me that would do it!

From: Coal Region, MTC to be exact...heart of the coal region.
need something long lasting? ceramic pads with good rotors. they will chew the rotors up a little quicker but will last longer.

brake equalization means the rear drums arent fully enguaging. may want to look at them and cleam em up good. could have crud caked inside or worn out spring to a un-adjusted drum...
