I currently have a wrecked 99 explorer with a 4.0 SOHC and I was woundering if I could put it in a 99ish Ranger. If i could I was also woundering how much work it would be (i.e. would i be able to use the Ranger EMC or the explorers) or if it is even worth it? Thank you for the help and advice.

 

Yes it will bolt in they all use the same frame mounts. A 99 may not be worth it infamous timing chain issues especially back then. If so replace the tensioners in the heads and the guides. Expo wiring will be a bit different. Do all maintenance stuff. I put an 03 engine in mine and that one was about to go up I had someone put an 07 earlier last year. I'll link the thread to it.
