2011 Ranger fuel pump replacement

I need to replace a fuel pump on a 2011 V6 Ranger Sport Extended Cab and hoping I can get get some advice on the procedure. Looks to be pretty straight forward but I have a couple question.
1) I plane to remove the bed to get to it, any problem with that ?
2) what the best place to get an OEM pump at a good price ?
3) does the gasket come with the pump ?
4) any advice appreciated

You can remove the bed or tilt it up
There are 3 screws that hold the filler tube/vent to the side of the bed, they need to be removed

There are 6 bed bolts, T55, you can remove all 6 and disconnect taillights then slide bed back
Or remove the 4 front bed bolts and loosen the rear 2 bolts, then lift up the front of the bed and use 2X4s or ?? to hold it up, needs to be high enough to lift out the pump assembly

You can by just the pump, or the whole pump assembly.
The whole assembly usually comes with a gasket ring but check

Yes, Motorcraft would be my choice because they are tested, and pump is hard to get to for warranty exchange if it fails in 6month to a year

Very very odd for 2011 pump to fail, 20-30years is expected life

thats what I though too. But the truck has been sitting for a least 7 months with no fuel in the tank. Do you think that could have caused it to go bad ?

is the MotorCraft part number PFS 522 ?

They sit on the shelf in the box longer than that so I wouldn't think that would matter

Yes, that looks like correct kit part number

Thanks
I guess my thought was it sat in a tank that had been run dry and than left to sit for a few months. Maybe it jus got varnished over and that killed it.

Some good advice so far. I just had the fuel pump assy replaced in my '08 4.0 FX4 after 10 years but only 40k miles. The pump started leaking so bad it was un-driveable a/c safety concerns. Mechanic tried 3 different NEW pumps w/o success, finally ordered the OEM Ford replacement and that worked w/o problems to date. Lesson: Avoid cheap after market substitutes. With the after market ones, had problems with the fuel gauge not getting a signal from the sending unit. Replaced gas lines, fuel filter as well. Mechanic was able to finagle the whole unit out of the tank about 4 times w/o having to lift or move the bed.
