2001 Ranger with stuck electrical connection

Hi,

I'm trying to replace my battery wiring harness. Near the firewall is a connector. I've attached pictures of the new connector on the wiring harness and the old connector in place.

I do not know the mechanism for releasing the old. I've tried some prying with a screwdriver, but the part that stays on the vehicle seems very brittle and I don't want to crack it.

How do I get this sort of connection apart (without damaging it?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum

In lower picture you can see tab has no lock, its broken off, and unless there is another tab on the lower side of connector, it should not be locked, just stuck
So keep prying on it, maybe spray some WD40 or silicone lube on it

Thank you, RF.

WD-40 did the trick.
