Can I just reconnect the old egr vacuum line back up and still drive it until I get it fixed properly

 

If the line is broken just use tape to seal it for now

Yes you can just hook it back up and drive, you might get a CEL(check engine light) again, should have got one earlier

Listen for pinging/knocking, if you hear that back off the throttle
