Key ignition dumb question

Hello there I have a 2011 ford ranger xlt Supercab and I have a dumb question ive noticed on so many other cars that when you turn the key it commonly three modes. But it seems on my truck I can only get the electronics to turn on when I’m in mode three I know there is an accessory mode on most cars. And it’s been like this since I’ve bought the truck mods 1 and 2 do absolutely nothing until car is completely on or like i said in mode three. But the battery light engine light and oil light are all on when I have it in the mode. Are rangers made this way or is something wrong with mine if so any ideas thanks.

Welcome to the forum

There are 5 "modes"/positions for the ignition key

You can get your 2011 owners manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/

Page 151 shows the positions

Yes there is an accessory position, mode 1

There could be a problem with ignition switch, it is under the steering column above brake pedal, the key turns a gear that slides the Actuator Rod
The actuator rod runs down thru the steering column and Slides the ignition switch into its 5 positions

Simplified drawing of how it works: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...e1343a526d.gif

Or it could be the ignition key cylinder is worn out, does it feel loose?
The cylinder may not allow key to turn BACKWARDS to 1
