Rear running lights work but brake lights won't on 91 XLT
Rear running lights work but brake lights won't on 91 XLT
So i recently got a 91 XLT and I noticed that my brake lights would only work intermittently, come to find out that there was a trailer connector spliced into the brake light cables. I disconnected it and now my brake lights won't work. I'm new to rangers in general and I would sincerely appreciate any help!
See if your 4-way flashers work, if not you blew the brake light fuse when disconnecting trailer wires they share the same fuse
Fuse #4 in cab fuse box, 15amp
The light green wire comes out of the brake pedal switch and runs TO the turn signal stalk, that's called the multi-function switch
From there TWO wires go out to the rear of vehicle, one for left side brake AND Turn, and one for right side brake AND turn
So if there are no brake lights then there would be no rear turn either, if wires were bad
Is that correct?
In 1991 the rear turn and brake share one bulb on each side, but turn signals use a different fuse, #5 15amp
So if turns are working in the rear then wiring is OK
Problem is either #4 fuse or bad brake pedal switch or multi-function switch
